As You Like It

Since beginning my Shakespeare Project, I've read (or listened to) multiple retellings, watched six different plays in 8 performances (two were duplicates, but performed by different groups), and watched two movie renditions, but I had not yet read or watched As You Like It. I spied this new Kenneth Branagh movie version at Costco the other day and tossed it into the cart.

Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful!
Set in 19th Century Japan, the scenery, costumes, and artwork are stunning and dreamy all at once. As You Like It is neither as humorous as Much Ado About Nothing, nor as tragic as Romeo and Juliet, but rather a nice blend of drama and merriment.

A great introduction to Shakespeare for young people as well as a enjoyable film for adults. Two thumbs up.

It is good, I agree. I enjoyed it immensely - Costco you say? Hmmm - Hubby bought a bunch of Branagh for me at Christmas since all of mine was on VHS...but not As You Like It because it was too expensive...

I still love Henry V...

I kinda have a crush on Kenneth Branagh. So I'll have to watch the film. His Hamlet performance is amazing. (have you seen that one?)

Good to know this is a good one, but Branagh tends to do amazing work! He is a gifted, gifted actor!

I will look for it.
Not a sporty person myself, I know that the TV will be dominated by such things in the next 2 weeks.
I may hide away from everyone else and watch some DVDs.
