Nim's Island

Am I the only one that thought this movie by Walden Media (producers of The Chronicles of Narnia) was terrific? Well, I know I'm not the *only* one. Russ, Levi, and Luke thought it was terrific, too.

Things to love: Nim begins the movie narration by saying that she is homeschooled (well, island schooled), her father is played by Gerard Butler, Gerard Butler also plays the part of adventure hero Alex Rover, Gerard Butler... well, maybe I should stop there. How about action and adventure. A spunky little girl, a quirky writer, a dad who is resourceful, determined, and loving.

I can't say that there were many surprises in this movie once it got started, but it is fun, fresh, and entertaining for the whole family. And that is hard to come by these days! Two (eight? ten?) thumbs up from our family.

my kids could not (no matter how much I tried to explain) understand why she was practically unable to leave the house. Since they didnt understand that it kindod did not make her actually leaving the house important to them as we all know it was. Also when the volcano thing happened, my 8 year old was like" Mom she would have most likely been burned or killed by the gases. ???? So I guess my kiddoes didnt like it that much. But I absolutely agree, fun for the whole family and a mostly clean movie which is truly hard to come by!

Thanks for the review on this. I've been curious about it.

P.S. I've just recently found your blog (I can't remember how) and I'm really enjoying it! Your photography is really great, too.

I loved it. My kids did too.

Loved it, and so did the kids and Nana!

We enjoyed it doubly since Daddy set us up on the deck to watch it under the stars (on a sheet hung on the house as our makeshift movie screen). Seemed an appropriate movie to enjoy in the fresh air:-)

We loved loved loved this movie... and I had a great sense of pride in that homeschooled moment. My daughter said she wanted to be big and be her own teacher... it was a bittersweet moment... but a comfort realizing she enjoys slef-discovery and learning... and at 7 she has had a taste of it. Thankfully... I am enjoying your little rascals pictures here...
SOOO HOW do you take 300 pictures in 5 minutes? Answer me that... a secret I must learn desperately.
